Setting in Steamboat

If you were to change the setting of your book to Steamboat Springs, what would be the same and what would be different?  Comment before the end of the day on Wednesday, March 21.

Book:The sorceress

If the setting of my book were steamboat then everything would change. In my book the characters travel to another COUNTRY every day! So then it would be difficult to keep moving. If just one event were to happen here then everything would be chaos. Were ever these people go death and destruction follow, because monsters usually follow so there wouldn't be much left of Steamboat!

Is this the book from last week? I think it is. Anyways, if my book's setting was in Steamboat, it wouldn't be much different if it was in Buffalo Pass. This is because the boy was stranded in the wilderness and Buffalo Pass is pretty wild if you ask me! I can't think of any differences because the book is based in the Canadian Wilderness and Canada is close to Colorado. The only possible way of differences would be someone would find the boy pretty quick off.

Book: Scat

If the setting of my book was in steamboat not to much would change. Most of my story is in the mountains or near the mountains which steamboat has a lot if. There is also setting at a school which steamboat also has. In my book a teacher gets really mad at a student so on a field trip to the mountains the kid gets payback. This is a cool book and is very exciting i suggest this for my fellow students.

If my book Maximum Ride took place in Steamboat it would be WAY different. First the main characters can fly, and they travel constantly. Traveling hundreds to thousands of miles in Steamboat would not work out at all. Also in my book they are fighting evil scientists who are located all over the world from desserts to Antarctica. Another problem is that the characters are constantly in danger so after a while, hiding in Steamboat would get them captured.
If my book took place in Steamboat it would be the same because the flying kids have a house in the Colorado Mountains which is what Steamboat is.

If the setting in my book were Steamboat, not much would change. The main character travels to a mountain town with a small population. The main difference would be that this is way in the past and they would be in awe at the technology.

Book: Mockingjay

If the setting of the book was in Steamboat the entire book would be different. First of all, Steamboat isn't big enough to hold that massive arena. Also, Steamboat wouldn't be Steamboat, it would be the Capitol. Also, everyone in the Capitol where's weird clothes and are very self-centered, NOTHING like steamboat

Book: Mockingjay
Now this is interesting because the setting of Mockingjay is what used to be North America, so the setting is partially in Steamboat Springs, or what used to be. If the setting was what Steamboat Springs is now, the whole mood of the book would change. Instead of the harsh rule of the Capitol and the twelve outlying districts, Panem would turn into a beautiful mountain town.

Fun Dip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D said...

I agree with SoccerGirle54:) that the Capitol and Steamboat Springs are definitely not very alike.

Book:13 Gifts
Author: Wendy Mass
If the setting of this book had changed to Steamboat, then this book would be a lot different. It is the third book in a series and in the series, everything that happens, happens because they are in Willow Falls. In this book, strange things happen because of the location and a town famous play. If "13 Gifts" was set in Steamboat, it would be a totally different story.

If the setting of my book changed to Steamboat Springs i don't think the book would make sense. My book is 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, the deepest body of water in the Yampa Valley is only a little over a hundred feet. The Nautilus is about 30 feet that doesn't add quite up!

stsried AFRO NINJA,
I kind of see what you mean. I don't think that 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea could really take place in Steamboat, you know, since there isn't a sea or ocean in sight in Steamboat.

Sorry about the stsried at the beginning.

BOOK: the scortch trials
If the scortch trials took place in stembaot almost every person would be deaed or soon to be dead. There would be no snow or water. Sadly it wouldent matter where in the world it took place because it would all look the same

Book:Dead End in Norvelt

If my book's setting took place in Steambot we would have to narrow down the population to in the hundreds and their would have to be a doctor that would cost about $500 for a simple nose bleeding fix. Some things you would keep are the baseball fields and the dry heat in the summer. My book's actual setting takes place in Norelt Pennsylvania.

Book: Fablehaven

If the setting of Fablehaven was changed to Steamboat Springs, it would be in Perrymansfield because there's this giant old mansion in the middle of the woods in Fablehaven. Even though Perrymansfield isn't a mansion, it would still fit pretty well because it's old and it has lots of forest and woods surrounding it. If Fablehaven was changed to Perrymansfield, then Perrymansfield would definitely no longer be a school of arts what with all the fairies and monsters running around trying to cause trouble. teehee ;)

Great White,
That would be scary if your setting was changed to steamboat. D:

Book: If I Die Young

If the setting of my book was in Steamboat, most everything would change.First, it would be different because when Caelyn is released from the hospital, the only reason she was released so soon was because she lived close to the hospital. If she were in Steamboat, she could not be released so soon because it is like a 3-4 hour drive from Steamboat to Denver (she goes to the Children's Hospital). Also, even though she lives in a suburb of Denver, her town still sounds bigger than Steamboat. There is no shopping mall here and they have different stores than we do.

I recently re-read The Hunger Games, to remember the details of the book, before watching the movie. I think that if the Hunger Games's setting was switched to Steamboat, it would be different because the arena would be much more cold, but there would be plenty of wood to start fires. Also, I don't think the Capitol would be as big as it is in book, and the Capitol's attitude sway different than the attitude in Steamboat. In addition, the districs would be smaller too, if Steamboat was the Capitol. It would be alike because of the nature in the arena, so the arena would be very similar to the arena in the book, except for the cold and snow. It would way different if Steamboat was the Capitol!

Oh my gosh! The Great White, your book would be AWFUl in Steamboat! Even though it sounds very gory and stuff, it would be kind of suspensful seeing what happens next.

Oh yeah, I did not do the same book as last week, because I finished that book and read The Hunger Games. Is that O.K.?? If not please let me know

If I was to change the setting of my book to Steamboat Springs, not very much would change. The setting right now in my book is the forest. there are wild cats and humans. There are also trees and houses. There are houses and trees and humans in Steamboat. The cats are tamed buts thats all.

Commenting On: The Great White

I sure do hope that The Great White's story doesn't come here. I like Steamboat just the way it is.

Book: The Book of Luke
Author: Jenny O'Connel
I don't think that the story would change that much if it took place in Steamboat. The actual setting is Boston. One thing that might change is the Heywood Academy students. In the book they (obviously) don't ski (I don't think there are any mountains). The students could change by having a more active skitown personality. Kind of like the Steamboat locals. This is different from the book because the boys are all in lacrosse and that's what their big sport is. Also, the author doesn't mention the girls playing any type of sport, they don't even cheerlead! Personally I think that changing the setting to Steamboat might make the girls more active.

Responding to Afro Ninja:
I agree. 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea wouldn't make any sense. I think that the only way it would work, is if Steamboat flooded, BIG time.

Stewart Little is boarding the plane at 11:19(I think the airline likes to be really exact) I'll see you (in person) again on April 16th, I still don't know why we can't come back sooner and watchthe Hunger Games.

Book: 39 Clues: In Too Deep

If the setting of my book was in Steamboat, it would change the whole plot. The setting of my book is Sydney, Australia. One of the main characters is a surfer, and that is the only reason that he lives in Australia. The reason that they are in Australia is because they're searching for one of the 39 Clues, which is supposed to be in Australia with a guy named Bob Troppo. If the setting was in Steamboat, none of these things would be possible. If the setting was in Steamboat, nothing would be the same, and the entire book would be altered.

Boucing Ninja- I think it would be wierd with all those feats of amazingness, disgustingness, etc. I like Steamboat the way it is and I dont want it to change.

Great White- THat wold be terrible!Having monsters running amuck would totally ruin the day. Actually, it would ruin a lot of days.

SoccerGirle54:) I would hate living in Steamboat if it was the Capitol!!!

AFRO NINJA- Having Steamboat flooded in 20,000 leagues of water would make it horrendously terribly impossible to live.

Title: Mockingjay

If the setting of my book was in Steamboat Springs, not only would the time be different(my book is in the future), our conditions in steamboat are extremely different than the conditions in Panem. Their fun is going out into the woods somewhere and either hunting stuff, or escaping their district. Our fun in Steamboat is skiing and snowboarding on the mountain.

I agree that if we were in the Mockingjay book Steamboat would be the Capitol. I also agree that not a lot of locals wear fancy clothes and be self-centered.

If Cleopatra lived in Steamboat Springs, it would be a very differient book. They lived in Egypt, and some people got heat stroke, but not many people get heat stroke in freezing weather. They may get frost bite, though. They also would have none of the surroundings, like the pyrimids. They might have found a way to use the trees and other things we have here and not Egypt, like camoflause.

Sorry this is late, it totaly blew by my mind...

Oh and responding to James Blonde 007- I think that would change everything- maybe he moved to steamboat to snowboard.

Book: rangers apprentice book 7 Erak's ransom

If my book were to happen in Steamboat, almost everything would have to change. In the book, they are in a desert(the middle east) and since we dont have any deserts that harsh, the entire world would need to change.

About the only thing that couldn't change would be Will's homeland, Arulen(Will is the main character of the book). It is a forested, snowy land. A lot like London.

Soccer Girle54, I'm pretty sure that the Capitol is Denver.
